Purpose and Philosophy

St. Bernadette Preschool provides the parents of our school community with a loving, positive, and Christian preschool environment where their child can grow as a learner.  Our curriculum is designed to meet the needs of every child and encourages each child to grow intellectually, socially, physically, and spiritually.  We foster a strong partnership in learning between the students and teachers.   Under the leadership of our teachers, the children commit to working in a harmonious environment that promotes an “I can” attitude at all times.  Our teachers use the best practices in preschool education so that the whole child’s learning is nurtured in an engaging and exciting way.  Every child enrolled in St. Bernadette’s preschool program will have their chance to shine, and to develop a love for learning.

Three-Year-Old Program:  Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
Our Three-Year-Old Program focuses on social skills, gross and fine motor skills, group participation, learning to work independently, and following routines and directions. The children develop these skills through circle time, small and large group activities, center time, and one-on-one work with the teacher. The children are able to develop at their own pace and are never rushed through any part of development. The children learn in a very non-threatening, nurturing environment. Our three-year-old program has 12 children in each class with a full-time teacher and an assistant teacher.

Four-Year-Old Program:  Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Our Four-Year-Old Program places a strong emphasis on pre-kindergarten skills. The children work in large and small groups focusing on developing reading and writing skills, motor skills, and critical thinking. The children are involved in peer interaction as well as one-on-one interaction with the teacher. The four-year-old program is designed to provide children with the skills needed to have an easy transition into kindergarten. Our four-year-old program has 12 children in each class with a full-time teacher and assistant.

Pre-K Program: Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Our Pre-K program will follow the same curriculum as the 4-year program.   The two extra days provide opportunities for additional activities and additional practice on the skills being introduced each week.  Our Pre-K program has 12 children in each class with a full-time teacher and assistant.
